If the exam conducted is for 80 marks the pass marks must be 16 and you have actually scored (16/80)*45= 9 marks
It means in rest u must have 31 marks to make it 40/100 from the whole paper.

GDB main se  3.5 out of 5  ,,,,,,,,      (3.5/5)x 5  = 3.5
mid main 15 out of 45      ,,,,,,,,  (15/45)x 30  =  10
 
yahan aap k total mila k bantay hain 28.5 jo k 20 se zyada hay. so aap mid main pass hain.
 
 
issi tarah final ki percentage hay. uss main se pass honay k liy b 20 percent chahiy.
for example. aap k paper k total marks hain. 80 aap ne liay hain 36.
to calculation will be like this.
final %age = 45% ---------------------(equation2)
(36/80) x45= 20.25 which is greater than 20. its mean you are pass.
 
 
equation 1 and 2 ka total karain. toh banta hay 55+45=100 %
or 100% main se pass honay k liy chahiy 40%
20% + 20% = 40%
 
agar indivisual dekhain toh hamain takreeban 40% (mid+q+G+A) or 40 % final main se chahiy hotay hain jo main ne ooper kaha tha.
 
kuch smjh lagi yaah main awain khapp raha hon :(

Dear Student

 Marks are calculated according to the grading scheme. Grading scheme is different for different subject and it is available in student's VULMS account in "Course Website" heading against each course 

You can view your course assessment scheme in your LMS set by your course instructor in a semester. This facility will enable the students to know about the different grading activities in a course. The students can plan well about their courses and can work on each activity individually to get better grades. 

By using this grading scheme you can yourself calculate marks required in each item to pass a course. You can also read 20% rule available at VULMS at following link that defines passing criteria.

 Assignments: (Marks obtained in assignment/Total Marks of assignments) * Assignment weightage according to assessment scheme

 e.g. If assignments mark are 15 out 100 and assignments wighatge is 5% then assignment relative marks will as below according to above detail.

 Assignments: (18/100) * 15 =2.7

You can calculate relative marks of other items in similar fashion.
